Tip #2) If you plan on visiting Cedar Point many times, make sure you get a Platinum Pass. A Platinum Pass is basically a Season Pass with many more benefits. A) The Platinum Pass works at every Cedar Fair park. So, from Cedar Point, to Carowinds, to Knott's Berry Farm, you get all of the benefits. B) Free admission. Well, of course, this is probably the number one reason to get a pass to the park. You get unlimited admission to the park all year, including HalloWeekends. C) ERT and Early Entry. Every day of the operating season, you will be allowed to get into the park an hour early, with several rides such as Millennium Force and Maverick running. This is a great opportunity to get a lot of rides! There are also special dates where rides are reserved for Platinum Passholders, usually after the park closes for the day. Pretty cool! D) Discounts. The Platinum Pass will get you many different discounts throughout the year. E) Snazzy free stuff! Sometimes if you buy your Platinum Pass during a promotional period, you can get cool stuff. Like last year you got a snazzy "Cedar Fair VIP" windbreaker, perfect for cooler days in the park. When you bought a 2009 Platinum Pass, you got free admission to HalloWeekends (Well, if you didn't have a pass already!). F) Free parking. When you show your Platinum Pass at the parking booth, you will never pay a dime for parking.

So, a great tip for any Cedar Point fan is to get a Platinum Pass. The benefits will go on and on, and it is definitely a great buy!

Another Big Amusement Park Trip!

Next week I will be heading up to Cedar Point, and later on to Carowinds again. This will mean that there may be limited posts throughout those days (Well, with finals for school there have already been limited posts), but I will try my best to keep the blog up-to-date. I will be away from the 9th through the 18th, so it's a long time, but I will make posts using an iPhone app whenever I can! I'll see some more of Starlight Experience and Carowinds, so I'll have some exciting stuff!

Also, I do plan on typing up more trip reports from Carowinds and Cedar Point, but I have a habit of making them very long, so I will type them as soon as I can!

Starlight Experience

Last Saturday I walked through the long awaited Starlight Experience, Cedar Point's most highlighted attraction for 2009. The Experience opened last Saturday, May 23, and a small preview was shown before it opened. I have one word to describe it-amazing. When you walk through during the day, you don't see much, but at night, you certainly do! The entire trail is covered in extremely bright LED lights, and there are other lights to illuminate buildings and trees, and some cool lights in Millennium Tunnel. Lots of lights. If you start at Millennium Tunnel, you first enter winter, and go through fall, summer, then spring (I guess I went through it backwards!), or if you start at Snake River Falls, then it is the opposite. There are numerous cool special effects throughout the trail, and I won't give it away, so make sure that you check it out the next time you are in the park.

The show started around 9:00 PM, and on the 23rd, the trail closed at around 8:35 PM to set up parts of the show. Since then though, the trail is closed for a much shorter time, and some people have noted that people are allowed through the trail, as long as it stays organized, although I can't confirm this until the next time I see it. There are new signs up by the entrance to Millennium Tunnel and on top of the new Frontier Trail sign that I described earlier. Overall, it was great experience and it will be something that I will try to get through most nights that I'm in the park. I was oohing and ahhing all the way!

Our May poll ended a few days ago, featuring our readers' favorite thrill ride (or flat ride) at Cedar Point. Now, the results are in, with Skyhawk being 66% of our readers' favorite thrill ride. And I must agree that Skyhawk is an incredibly awesome ride. Congrats, Skyhawk!

Our new poll is now up, asking the question "What is your favorite children's section at Cedar Point?" Over the recent years, Cedar Point has become increasingly focused on families, and now with three children's parks, we want to know what your favorite is.

Check Out the New Webcams!

Cedar Point recently updated their Webcams page on their website. Now all three of the webcams are up and running. The current line up is the PagodaCam, DragsterCam, and the new TrailCam. The TrailCam provides an image of the Frontier Trail, from above the Candle Shop facing Millennium Force's over banked curve. It will provide a nice view of the Starlight Experience at night. It also appears as if each of the webcams were slightly moved, and it looks like you get a better view than before on all of the webcams.

There is also a new webcam viewer, which allows you to change the size of the image.

Cedar Central Update

Okay, so it's been a while since I last updated what's been going on here at Cedar Central. Well, things are going well, and the complete network should be completed soon. At the blog, there has been a lack of posts due to a lot of travel and school throughout May. I think I am back on track now. The website is getting pretty far, and could be uploaded to the server anytime soon, so I'll notify you on the blog. The widget is still being reviewed, and so I don't know when I'll release it. Pretty soon though. If you would like the widget, Version 1.0 is still available. I will have a post outlining the new features pretty soon.

So, May was a slow month, but with a lot of time opening up in June, next month should be pretty big.

Dragster Stuck... Again!

As of 2008, this event only had a 1:53,000 chance of occurring. What's the only thing better than a roll back on Top Thrill Dragster? A complete halt on the top! Yes, if the ride launches just right, the train can remain perfectly balanced at the top of the hill. So, a maintenance worker heads up the tower and pushes the train back to Earth. While I wouldn't want to be the one pushing it, I would love to have a complete stall! Well, my dream may never come true, as I have yet to even get a roll back.

The last time this happened was October, 2008.

Cedar Central's Weekly Cedar Point Tip

I have been going to Cedar Point for a long time now, and over the years, I have discovered the best ways to get through the park in one day. Every week, I will be posting a tip, and by following these tips, it will be much easier to get in an "all 17" day.

Tip #1) Rides don't quite close at 10.

Or closing time, that is. A common thing I hear at Cedar Point a half hour before closing is "No, the line's over an hour long, and the park closes soon, so there's no point in waiting and being kicked out of line. We had better just head back to the hotel room." Well, if you have the time, and won't fall asleep, this isn't true. If you get in line for a ride and the park closes, they can not kick you out of line. The ride will keep running, all night if they have to! Just get in line before closing, and your day will be greatly extended!

Millennium Force

Unfortunately, Millennium Force has been facing mechanical issues since this morning. There are problems with the cable lift, but there haven't been any details from the park. I am expecting the ride to be down for a few days after today, but I'm sure the park will get it fixed up and ready to go as soon as possible. As seen on the PagodaCam, there is already a crane on site.

Tonight's Platinum Passholder ERT on Millennium Force will be moved to a different day. Tonight, the ERT is now Magnum XL-200 and Dragster.

Do You Remember...?

Do you remember... Top Thrill Dragster's Old Trains?

Yes, this is an odd "Do you remember...", but I was thinking about this the other day. Top Thrill Dragster used to have a spoiler and large tires on every train. These special parts made the trains look like real dragster cars. Unfortunately, due to a not very serious incident where a tire became loose on one of the trains, this scenery was completely removed. Today, you can tell it was there because of the round, black part on the back of the train.

Cedar Point 2009

I visited Cedar Point for Opening Day 2009, and I made a few observations, some of which have already been noted of and some that haven't. Here are some interesting things I saw at the park. (My trip report will be coming soon as well.)

New Causeway Sign

This has been talked about a lot by Cedar Point fans over the winter, and I have to say it looks great, especially at night. It is nice and colorful and the LED is bright and crystal clear. Very attractive!

New Entrance LED Signs

This too was very popular discussion in the Cedar Point community. Cedar Point now has many LED displays in the main entrance. Once again, they are very bright and colorful, and look great.

New Garbage Cans

I know that we all love Cedar Point's famous garbage cans, so it was cool to see a new style of garbage cans in the park! There are a few new bins around the park that are grey and have a much thicker looking plastic. They are very similar to the old ones, but the top part with the four openings sticks out and is wider than before. It's hard to explain, but I like them!

New Hand Dryers

One of the coolest things I saw in the park was actually in the bathrooms! Cedar Point got new Dyson AirBlade hand dryers. You put your hands in this area, and then a stream of fast moving air moves across the opening. When you pull your hands out, the water gets pushed off and drained. They called them the "Fastest, most hygienic hand dryers available.", and I must agree with that statement. These dryers are fast. Even faster than the Xelerator dryers that pushed your skin away from your hand! Well, luckily, these aren't as powerful, but they still perform better. Unfortunately, I didn't see these at every restroom yet though.

New Midway Fountain

This was really nice. The area looked nice around the fountain, and the water was very refreshing. It actually squirts out at anytime or in patterns, so you never really know when you'll get wet if you're running through. It's pretty fun to watch, too.

Brick Pavers

Throughout the front of the park, there are a lot of new brick paver midways. These are around the fountain, along the main midway, and at the entrance. They look really nice and durable, and it's a nice alternative to concrete.

Train Crossing Areas

The areas where the CP&LE Railroad passes through the midways just got a little facelift. Instead of concrete, there is now asphalt around the tracks.

Family Dryer

A more recent announcement from the park was that there was going to be a new "family dryer" near Snake River Falls. This dryer, also called a Haystack Dryer, can dry a total of five people for five dollars. It's going to be nice not having to walk around wet all day after riding Snake River Falls or Thunder Canyon! I didn't get to try it out yet, but I will soon!

Maverick Screen Gone

The LCD screen in Maverick's queue line is now gone. I am not quite sure why it was removed, but it was probably prone to vandalism.

Park Banners

The new banners hanging around the park look great. This year, there are "Magnum XL-200 20th Anniversary", "Ride On", "Ride Warriors", and several banners with just rides on them. Also, there are some banners with Cedar Point logos on them near the midway fountain, and they look really nice.

Magnum Sign

There is a new sign right outside of the entrance to Magnum XL-200's queue. It looks really cool, and fits the ride really well.

Magnum's Tunnels

I'm not sure if this is true, but in the tunnel on Magnum, I thought I could smell fog, an effect that hasn't been used on the ride permanently for a while now. This could mean that it might be restored.

New Energy Drink Stand

There is now an Energy Station near Gemini. It sells energy drinks and soft drinks.

Updates Coming Soon

Sorry everyone! I'm sure many of our readers want some updates on the park this year, especially for those who weren't able to go yet. Unfortunately, I just had to get my pupils dilated, and I can't see a thing (Yes, laugh all you want...). I am having a lot of trouble typing, and I cant read my screen (I have my Mac's text size turned up all the way... Wow!), so I can't post anything until my eyes are a little better. So look for some updates on opening weekend tonight!

Isn't it Beautiful...

Well, tonight Cedar Point has turned on the lights on many of their rides (Notably Dragster and Mantis). I noticed Raptor's lights were on about a month ago for one night, but it looks like with only around 10 hours left until opening, Cedar Point's ready to go with lighting. And even though it's nothing spectacular since only a few are even on, all I have to say is beautiful...

I can't wait to see the park tomorrow.

Ride Testing

Well, I've long been yearning to see some rides testing at the Point, but up until today, I had yet to see any action (other than the Sky Ride). Yes, I know the park opens in less than a day, but I am happy to say that I finally saw some stuff going on over near the PagodaCam. I guess you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Here's the shot that I saw, which is pretty good if you ask me. You can see Millennium Force on the lift hill, Power Tower, Sky Ride, and Mantis testing. Wow, I guess today I got lucky!

New Magnum Sign

This year will be Magnum XL-200's 20th anniversary season. Just one of the ways Cedar Point is celebrating this special event is by giving the classic hypercoaster a brand new sign. We knew about the sign for a while now, but nobody quite knew what it looked like until today. Check the sign out in this post made by the official Cedar Point blog.

Cedar Point Fact of the Day

Cedar Point is now the coaster capitol of the world, but it took a while to get up there! Cedar Point's first roller coaster opened in 1892, a whopping 117 years ago! This ride, named Switchback Railway, was a huge 25 feet tall, and was the scariest roller coaster around at the time. The ride no longer exists, but who knows, Cedar Point might not be known for having the tallest, fastest roller coasters is the Switchback Railway hadn't started it all!

Cedar Point Opening Day 2009

This year's opening day at Cedar Point will be a very exciting experience that will be fun for the whole family! There will be numerous events that you should definitely check out this May 16!

First, open up the 2009 season to your favorite amusement park with an amazing display that is sure to amaze the entire audience! A professional skydiver will fall back down to Earth holding the American flag, right into Cedar Point! A 100 x 100 foot area will be cleared in the Cedar Point parking lot to make a safe landing for the sky diver, and it will be a very cool sight, and a great way to start up the season.

After the sky diver lands at the park, it will be time for the National Anthem, to salute the United States of America.

Next, the highest bidders for the first train for Magnum XL-200's 20th anniversary will take their ride at 9:00 AM. If you would like to be on this train, make sure you bid on a seat at the official auction page. And remember, all proceeds from the auction will go to the American Red Cross: Firelands Chapter.

After the first rides, Cedar Point will be officially open for the season! But then the first riders of Magnum will get to enjoy a banquet, where they will eat lunch in the Breakers East Conference Room, get commemorative T-shirts, receive a group photo, and a bronze medallion. Check it out:

So there will be a lot going on May 16th at Cedar Point, so make sure that you go check it out! And at the end of the day, make sure you don't miss the annual opening day fireworks that will light up the sky over the Point. *There will be several days of blog downtime this month. This doesn't man that you will not be able to access the blog; it just means that there will not be any posts made during these few days. All news and features will be made up for whenever I return. I will be making note of these dates in later posts, too.

**May 30, 2009 is a hopeful day to open the website. I have been testing out parts of the website on my server, but there are still a lot of pages to get done. As of now, May 30 is when I am expecting it to open. I will keep you up-to-date though.

***The widget is almost ready to go, but I plan on releasing it with the website. Our last widget did not ever get on Apple's website, so V 1.2 will be our second update, but we will release it as soon as Apple approves it. I actually plan on submitting it today, so it will be about two weeks hopefully. Once again, I'll keep you updated though!

Garbage Cans

Until recently, I've noticed that Cedar Point's famous garbage cans have been neatly put into areas waiting to be placed throughout the park. Over the past few days though, the garbage cans have finally been spaced out and placed around the park. It looks like this will probably be one of our last off-season preparations updates, with only 15 days left until the park opens for the season! Now, I'm just looking for roller coaster testing...

Wednesday, April 29, 2009: Cedar Fair Spotlight

Diamondback is an all new roller coaster that was built at King's Island, another Cedar Fair park located near Cincinnati, Ohio. The ride was built by Bolliger and Mabillard, and is called a Hyper-Coaster. The ride reaches a height of 230 feet, goes 80 MPH, and is 5,282 feet long! The ride is the largest ride in the entire park. Diamondback is an amazing coaster, so if you ever get the chance to visit King's Island, make sure that you check it out. The ride opened to the public on Saturday, April 18th, 2009.

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009: Cedar Point Ride of the Day

Our ride of the day for this week is the Midway Carousel.

The Midway Carousel is the first ride that guests see when entering Cedar Point. It is a large carousel that Cedar Point bought in 1963, and is one of the few Daniel Muller carousels that are still in existence. The horses are carved beautifully, and there are four stationary chariots. After many years of operation, the carousel was revived and given a new location on the Main Midway in 1994; renovations totaling over $250,000! But today, the carousel is still providing families a classic ride to remember.

Monday, April 27, 2009: Cedar Point Fact of the Day

Most people think of Blue Streak as being the oldest ride in the park, but this is a common mistake. Blue Streak is the oldest roller coaster in the park, and Cedar Downs Racing Derby is the oldest ride that is still operating in the park. Cedar Downs is a high speed carousel that simulates horse races, and it is one of only three of its kind left in the world today. Cedar Downs is also a surprisingly complex ride, and people who have witnessed underneath the ride all claim that it is amazing how the ride works.

Do you remember... the old location of the Giant Wheel?

Today the Giant Wheel is located right next to Lake Erie, adjacent to Wicked Twister, but this wasn't always the location. The Giant Wheel originally opened in 1972 behind the Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad station, or the present day location of Millennium Force's final over-banked curve. The ride remained in this location until 1999, when it was removed to make room for Millennium Force.

New Signs

The official Cedar Point blog has posted several new pictures and a lot of information about the many LED signs that are being placed in the park. This post shows pictures of the new sign on the causeway being constructed. Here you can look at the new signs in the main entrance, and here you can finally see the new causeway sign fully constructed. According to the blog, there is currently no indication as to when the signs will be lit, but we'll keep you posted!

Blue Streak

This season is Blue Streak's 45th anniversary, and looking at pictures from this gallery, it looks like the park will be giving Blue Streak a little makeover. Although it's not confirmed, it looks as though it is being repainted to a brighter blue, since the paint faded over the years. Check it out here.

This week was another week of the park preparing for the 2009 season. The Sky Ride began testing and putting the gondolas back on, but that was about all that was noticeable this week.

The park also announced an auction to be the first rider on Magnum XL-200 for it's 20th season. You can bid on a seat here.

DragsterCam

For the past few days, the DragsterCam has been down, but it's probably just a small technical problem. As of now, the DragsterCam should return. Also, we're still waiting for that new webcam, but nobody's quite sure where it will be or when it will be up. In the mean time, the only official way of looking at the park is through the PagodaCam, or you can use FunCoast's FunCam.

Cedar Fair Spotlight

This week, we will also be introducing another feature, Cedar Fair Spotlight. Cedar Fair is the company that owns Cedar Point, so without taking our attention away from Cedar Point, we're going to feature something from another Cedar Fair park every week. Now normally we would be posting this on Wednesdays, but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to get to type it, so I'm posting a little late.

Carolina Cobra was the new ride at Carowinds amusement park, owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, for 2009. Carolina Cobra is a Vekoma Boomerang coaster, which means that it takes you up the lift hill backwards, then drops you forward at the top, then after you climb up another spike, you go through the whole track again backwards. Carolina Cobra opened on Saturday, March 28th, 2009, and had a media preview on Friday, March 27th, 2009.

Carolina Cobra was a beautiful coaster. It was a very nice color scheme with striking orange track with lighter blue supports. The landscaping around the ride was done very well also, adding to the overall feel of the area. One thing that's extra special about Carolina Cobra are its slick new trains. These new trains that have never been used on a coaster before add to the ride experience greatly, by adding smoothness and more room to sit, with much more open restraints. So, onto the ride...

Carolina Cobra was excellent to ride. I have been on a few Boomerangs in my life, but none of them compare with Carolina Cobra. The ride was smooth as glass, and very intense at the same time. Going backwards through inversions is a very cool experience, and pretty intense. It was a great ride.

So how many times did I ride it? Five, in addition to every other roller coaster in the park, except for Vortex, which was closed down, and a few kiddie coasters. So, if you're ever down in the Carolinas, make sure you stop by Carowinds, because they have an awesome line up of rides, and it is a very beautiful park. And, remember that if you have a Cedar Point Platinum Pass (or a Platinum Pass for any other Cedar Fair park), you get all the same benefits at every location!

Six Flags recently had their stock delisted from the NYSE. The ticker symbol SIX has been suspended from trading, since the company did not meet the NYSE requirements. On April 18, 2009, Six Flags announced that they would continue to trade their stock, instead on the OTC Bulletin Board under the ticker symbol SIXF, starting on April 20, 2009.

A children's ride at the Puyallup Spring Fair in Puyallup, Washington recently collapsed, causing injuries to six people. The ride that collapsed was a loli-swing ride, or a smaller version of a spinning swing ride. An inspection was underway, and it was expected that the accident wasn't due to a flaw in the ride, but instead because of wet ground because of rain.

Carowinds amusement park, near Charlotte, North Carolina, will be hosting a "Carolina Panthers Draft Day Party" on April 25. The event will feature appearances of several Panthers football players, various contests for all ages, and question sessions with Panthers players. The event will celebrate the home team spirit behind the 2009 NFL draft.

Freestyle Music Park will be introducing a new children's park with four rides this summer. "Kids In America" will feature several attractions, including "Life is a Highway", "Wheels in the Sky", "Fly Like an Eagle", and "Get Off My Cloud." This new section is proposed to open with the park on Memorial Day Weekend.

More Ride Testing!

Cedar Point Ride of the Day

Today's ride of the day is Skyhawk!

Skyhawk is a thrill ride located at Cedar Point that was built by S&S Power in 2006. The rides model is a Screamin' Swing, which means that riders sit facing two directions on two different arms that swing in two different directions. The ride is currently the largest ride of its kind, swinging riders over 125 feet, reaching an angle of 120 degrees, which means steeper than vertical! This also means that riders are sent through the swing at speeds of 60 MPH! Skyhawk is a lot more than your average playground swing!

Do You Remember...?

Do you remember... VertiGo?

VertiGo was a thrill ride that operated at Cedar Point in Challenge Park for the 2001 season. The ride was built by S&S Power in 2001. Riders were strapped into a triangle shaped car, where they were then shot up over 300 feet at 50 MPH, then doing a face-first dive all the way back down. The ride was only open for four months, because it was removed after the 2001 season due to structural problems. Riders payed $10 to ride the "insane" attraction. Soon after VertiGo was removed, Cedar Fair removed a similar ride at Knott's Berry Farm. Today, VertiGo is more like "VertiGone."

This week was another week of a lot of preparations for the 2009 season. Some things that we took note of were the Dragster trains being placed on the track with a crane, the Sky Ride cars were put back in the station, Power Tower has been testing, Corkscrew was testing, and the red train on Corkscrew was stuck on the lift hill for several days.

Another 2009 Preparations Update

I have noticed a lot of activity in the park recently as the park gets ready for the 2009 season. First of all, the trains for Top Thrill Dragster were placed on the track with a crane a few days ago. This is clearly visible from the DragsterCam. Also, Power Tower has been testing a lot, mainly around 5:00 PM on weekdays. Keep an eye out for this; it's pretty cool to see it! In addition to this, it looks like Corkscrew has been fixed, because the red train was stuck on the lift hill for a few days, but it's finally off. I really don't know what was going on, but it seemed odd that the train was out for a few days (and nights). Lastly, you can see that a lot of the famous garbage cans have been placed on the walkways from the webcams.

I really enjoy watching as the park gets ready because it reminds me that summer is on its way, so if you want to see these things in action, make sure you check out Cedar Point's webcams or Funcoast.com's FunCam.

New Causeway Sign

The official Cedar Point blog recently made a post taking about the new sign on the causeway. There will be a new LED sign beside the road that is capable of pictures, videos, and text, along with a new wavy "Welcome to Cedar Point" sign. The original sign will remain next to Cleveland Rd. Cedar Point Ride of the Day

The ride of the day is Blue Streak. Blue Streak is a wooden roller coaster that opened in 1964 near the front of Cedar Point. This year will be Blue Streak's 45th season at the park! Although Blue Streak may not be the biggest ride in the park, when it opened, it was a monster. At a height of 78 feet, Blue Streak now makes for a good ride for starters. The ride also has a lot of hills and air time, and is a nice classic coaster to take a ride on.

Cedar Point Fact of the Day

Cedar Point is the roller coaster capitol of the world. With 17 roller coasters, Cedar Point has the most scream machines than any other park in the world. But thats not all. Cedar Point also has a total of 75 rides, which is the most in the world, which makes Cedar Point fun for the whole family. Also, Cedar Point is still the only park with four roller coasters that are higher than 200 feet. These rides are Top Thrill Dragster (420 feet), Millennium Force (310 feet), Wicked Twister (215 Feet), and Magnum XL-200 (205 feet). On clear days, the park states that from three of these rides, you can even see Pelee Island, which is a part of Canada! That's pretty high!

Ride Testing

I've made many posts about 2009 preparations, but none of them have involved ride testing. There have been people who say they have witnessed 2009 ride testing, although I hadn't until this morning. A quick trip to the DragsterCam showed me that the red train on Corkscrew was clearly sitting in the middle of the lift hill. Why? I have no clue, but I'm just happy to see rides on the tracks again. Here's the shot:

Ferris Wheel!

During the long winter months, signs of spring sure are a relief! And, just recently I noticed that a big sign of spring, the Giant Wheel, was completely put back together. Now, we all know that they started putting the gondolas back on a while ago, but I noticed that about four to six of them were missing. Well, due to a recent trip to Funcoast.com's Funcam, I realized that it was all finished!

Also, I took note that Wicked Twister still has yet to be put back together (If you are rereading this sentence and are clueless about what I'm saying, click here). The park did state that it would be ready for opening day, so hopefully it will be back up soon.

Cedar Point: A Week in Review, for Saturday, April 11, 2009.

Days left until opening: 35

This week we got all of the final plans for 2009. The highlight for 2009 will be the Starlight Experience. This new themed, lighted walkway will use over a million LED lights and many different scenes to depict the changing of the seasons. Also, the Peanuts will be in this area to greet children. The Starlight Experience will be located on the Frontier Trail. Also, a new sign on Magnum will be installed over the entrance to the queue line. In addition to this, there are improvements being made that you will notice even before you step into the park! There are going to be several new large LED displays on the causeway to give you park information. Also, the concrete at the main entrance is being replaced, and new LED signs will be placed above every ticket/admission booth to give guests park information as they walk in.

Not much else has gone on in the park, except we have seen many preparations for 2009, such as trains being put back on their tracks, and new concrete by the Sky Ride station.

Network Update

I have been working on the website, forums, widget, and blog a lot lately, and so I would like to update everyone on what's been going on. First of all, I have made version 1.1 of the widget, but I do not expect this to be released to the public for several reasons. First of all, I was waiting to post it until I got it on Apple's website, but I've been unsuccessful so far, so it might have to wait until the next version. Also, there was an RSS glitch and the widget was a little oversized, so these will all be fixed in the next release, 1.2.

Also, the website is on its way! I do not have an exact date of opening, but it will be before Cedar Point opens for 2009. It will have a lot of great content.

Unfortunately, the Cedar Point Ride Database will not be open with the rest of the website. This huge database will hold a ton of information about every one of Cedar Point's 75 rides, allowing you to look at these rides in over 195 ways! But, it's going to take a while to finish, and we're about 20% done, so we'll hold off on this until everything else is done. Everything else will be ready to go.

Right now, I do not know much about the forums. I may be opening them with the website, or maybe later on. We'll just have to wait and see.

2009 is On Its Way!

Yesterday, Cedar Point announced all of their 2009 plans. The main addition for 2009 is a new show called Starlight Experience. This new themed, lighted midway will be an exciting attraction for all ages as you walk past scenes of the changing seasons. The official Cedar Point blog stated that electrical work was almost done, and they would start hanging fixtures and lights in around two weeks. Sounds exciting!

Also, there will be a new fountain on the main midway. this will be a great way to cool off, because water will shoot out from different places and there will be seats. This sounds like something that will be great for those hot August days!

A new sign on Magnum is being constructed, although it will not be complete until close to opening day, so we'll have to wait until then to see it!

In addition to all of this, the main entrance will be getting some new improvements. The concrete is being replaced, and there will be new LED signs to display park information. Also, there will be large LED signs on the causeway. Snazzy!

Cedar Point Introduces New Starlight Experience

Cedar Point's main capital expenditure for 2009 has finally been revealed! The Starlight Experience will be a fantastic themed, lighted walkway located on the Frontier Trail. There will also be music, characters, and other surprises! Here's the official press release for more information:

SANDUSKY, OH--(April 7, 2009) - Cedar Point's Frontier Trail will be filled with light and music when the Sandusky, Ohio,amusement park/resort will introduce the Starlight Experience, a brand new themed lighted walkway, for this summer. Each night, the Frontier Trail will be transformed into a brilliant canopy of lights and colors that will be themed to the changing of the seasons. Similar to the climate in the Midwest, each display will gently segue into a different season.

Accompanied with music, the Starlight Experience will use a diverse mixture of colored lights and displays to decorate and highlight the buildings, trees and structures along the wooded walkway. It will extend from the bridge across from the Snake River Falls water ride to the tunnel beneath Millennium Force.

Besides the seasonal scenes, the Starlight Experience will also use several themed floats that will depict each season. For younger guests, Snoopy and his favorite friends will also be included in the show. Larger-than-life replicas of the PEANUTS characters will be displayed at different locations along the trail.

Using more than one million highly efficient LED lights, the Starlight Experience will be presented every night the park closes at 10 p.m. or later, Saturday, May 23 (Memorial Day weekend) through Sunday, Sept. 6. The new family attraction will cost approximately $1 million to design and install.

"The Starlight Experience will be a very popular addition to the park this summer," said Charles Bradshaw, corporate vice president of live entertainment for the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. "These dramatic light displays will appeal to everyone in the family and will be a wonderful finale to our guests' day in the park."

Besides being visually stunning, the Starlight Experience will also be environmentally friendly. LED lights use a lot less energy and will last considerably longer than standard bulbs. Plus, LED lights reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and do not contain mercury.

The Starlight Experience is scheduled to begin daily at twilight and will be in operation until the Maverick and Millennium Force roller coasters close for the evening. (The Frontier Trail will close 30 minutes for show setup.)

To add even more value during a stay at Cedar Point, registered guests at any of the park's resort properties will be able to purchase Starlight admission tickets for $14.99, a savings of $15 per ticket. Starlight admission begins at 5 p.m. daily or 4 p.m. when the park closes at 8 p.m. or earlier.

In addition to the Starlight Experience, Cedar Point will add two new offerings to its live entertainment lineup for this summer. "Got Country!," a rowdy rendition of country favorites, will take the stage in the Red Garter Saloon on the Frontier Trail, while in Frontiertown, the Palace Theatre will present "Live Music at the Palace," a new venue featuring piano music.

Three new shows from last year will also be back for an encore performance. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," a '50s and '60s revue, will return to the Centennial Theatre, while "Snoopy's Big Bow-Wow" that features the lovable beagle and his friends in an ice-skating extravaganza takes to the ice in the Good Time Theatre and "All Wheels Extreme," the high-energy stunt show with rollerbladers, bikers, skateboarders, gymnasts and dancers, will defy gravity for a second season in the Extreme Sports Stadium along the Cedar Point Beach.

Cedar Point will open for its 140th season on Saturday, May 16 and will be open every day through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. The park will reopen on Sunday, Sept 13 and will host its 13th annual HalloWeekends fall family screamfest on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 18 through Nov. 1, 2009.

A Little Rehab...

2009 is on its way, and will be here in just 39 days, so a lot of work has been going on in the park. But one thing that we usually don't pay attention to are the walkways in the park. Hundreds of thousands of people are tramping on these concrete footpaths, and they need a lot of work to keep them in good shape! Well, although it's not confirmed, it appears that the park is replacing some concrete near the Sky Ride Station according to the Pagoda Cam. Take a look:

Today's ride of the day is Corkscrew. Corkscrew is an Arrow Dynamics corkscrew that was constructed at Cedar Point in 1976. The ride was the first roller coaster to go up-side-down three times, and the first roller coaster to ever have corkscrews over a midway. The ride was patriotically colored to highlight that 1976 was the United State's bicentennial.

Do You Remember...?

Do you remember... Schwabinchen?

Schwabinchen was a flat ride located at Cedar Point on the Wicked Twister Midway. The ride was built by Mack, and riders would spin around in circles while the platform would tilt. The ride was themed after dancing, and there was a dancing woman in the center of the ride. The ride opened in 1970 and closed in 2002. The rides final operating day was October 27, 2002, before the ride was removed to make room for Chaos, a ride that, along with Troika, was moved to make room for Top Thrill Dragster the following year.

A Pretty Cool Find

A few weeks ago I stumbled across an interesting webpage. For people who live in or visit Sandusky a lot, you would probably know what FunCoast is. Well, I noticed they had a webcam that you could see Cedar Point with, but it was down for a while. Recently, it opened back up, and it gives you some really nice views of the park from across Sandusky Bay, and it's live! This is a great thing, so check it out on the official page!

Cedar Point's Math and Science Week to Feature NASA COSI Columbus and the Detroit Science Center

This year looks like an exciting year for Math and Science week at Cedar Point! The press release was just released a few days ago, and here it is:

SANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point will host its own version of science class when the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort will extend its popular Physics, Math & Science Day to a five-day event this May.

The new Math & Science Week will be held Monday through Friday, May 18-22 and will offer a variety of daily activities and programs for students and teachers.

Schools from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania are expected to attend. The programs and displays are appropriate for middle and high school students.

Participating in the event will be NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Cleveland; the Detroit Science Center; and COSI (Center of Science & Industry) in Columbus, Ohio.

“This will be a wonderful and exciting learning experience for students and teachers alike,” said Clark Culbertson, Cedar Point’s Vice President of Marketing. “The five-day event will give schools many more options. With our science partners, there will be a lot more to see and do than ever before.”

Some of the planned activities will include several new displays and exhibits. The Glenn Research Center will have displays of the new Ares I and Ares V launch vehicles and the Orion crew exploration vehicle. The Detroit Science Center will present several exhibits on centripetal force, magnetic fields and chemical reactions, while COSI Columbus will bring its new Science Spot exhibit that will include activities on Force & Motion, Structures and Puzzling Puzzles.

Some of the event’s traditional favorites will also return. NASA’s Microgravity Man will demonstrate how free fall results in apparent weightlessness along with some of its effects on physical phenomena. Plus, NASA’s Q & A game show and space-themed photo booth will also be back. Each day will offer a different curriculum of activities and events.

In addition to the exhibits and special activities, many students will be given class assignments to complete work sheets that illustrate the speed, velocity and acceleration of Cedar Point’s rides and roller coasters. With 75 rides including 17 roller coasters, Cedar Point has more rides and more roller coasters than any park in the world.

Participating groups of 15 or more students can purchase discounted tickets to the event. (Advanced reservations are required.) Catered meals and wristbands for unlimited soft drinks are also available. Cedar Point Picture of the Day

Coming Up In The Future...

Along with working on the website, I have been addressing some problems with the widget. I have noticed that images typically do not fit in the viewing area, which is a problem because it's a major design flaw, and takes away from the over all user experience. Also, I do not like the transparent RSS. This was done so that I could add a background image, but means that pictures from the blog have to be transparent as well. I am testing out ways to fix this, and I hope that I can develop something soon. The next release (1.1) will not be a major update, just with some design updates, complete photo viewing, better performance, and a more comfortable experience. I have been testing these things out lately on my computer, and they should be much better than before.

Cedar Point Ride of the Day

This week's ride of the day is Demon Drop!

Demon Drop is an Intamin First-Generation Freefall Ride. Riders are put in box shaped cars, where they are held in by over-the-shoulder restraints, and then taken up a tall tower. At the top, they are suspended over the side, and then dropped down, where they return to the station. Demon Drop was the first ride of its kind, and is now the last remaining ride in the United States. The ride is located at the very front of the park, and usually catches visitors' attention with its unique location and loud noises.

Best Ride in the World

A roller coaster website, Theme Park Insider, is currently hosting a tournament to determine the greatest ride in the world. There are all different types of rides, like dark rids and roller coasters, from both theme parks and amusement parks. But, I would like to shout this out to Cedar Point fans to go vote in the polls. We know that we've got the best roller coasters out there, so lets go show them! It's a bracket tournament, so there are different rounds (which honestly I do not quite understand how it works), and it's almost over, so make sure you get out and vote!

Cedar Point Off-Season Pictures

Cedar Point has posted official pictures of the park preparing for the 2009 season on their official Facebook page. It has some nice pictures, but I did not see much to take note of. But, here are some interesting things to check out:

-There is a construction photo of the new fountain on the main midway. In case you haven't been staying informed, the park is adding a new interactive fountain on the main midway according to many members of ACE, although the park had yet to confirm it. It seems as if this is our official announcement.

-You will notice that in the same picture, the back spike on Wicked Twister is still missing.

-Also, throughout all of the photos, it looks like pretty much every ride is ready to be put together for 2009.

Yes, I know, I might have really confused you with what I've been doing with features, so I'm going to clear it all up. The blog opened two Sundays ago, but since last Tuesday, I haven't posted any features. That wasn't because I'm done with them, but I just never got around to posting them. But, this week I will catch up. Also, a feature will be once a week. So, that would mean that there could be a feature on Tuesdays, and another one on Wednesdays. Cedar Point Ride of the Day

Today's ride of the day is maXair!

maXair is a swinging thrill ride at Cedar Point built in 2005. The ride was built by Huss, and is the tallest ride of it's kind. Riders are strapped in to a large circle shaped car, which then rotates and swings up to a very steep angle at the same time. The restraints are over-the-shoulder, and there are 48 people in each cycle. There have been reports that maXair has a very high nausea factor, and is not good for people with weak stomachs, but I have never had a problem with it. Overall, maXair is a very fun ride that everyone should try at least once!

Cedar Point HalloWeekends 2008 Trip Report: November 1st and 2nd

Okay everyone, I know that this may be a little late, but the blog just opened, so it wouldn't have been able to post it any sooner anyway! Here's a trip report of my journey to Cedar Point on closing weekend, 2008.

I arrived at the park late Friday night, so I didn't go in that night, but I still visited on Friday and Saturday.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST, 2008:

I went into the park early Saturday morning at 9:00 using my Platinum Pass (Boy, how could I live without that thing!?). I immediately went to Millennium Force. This time, I wasn't the first one on the ride for the day, but I was still on pretty fast. We only had to wait about five minutes, and like always, it was an amazing ride. So, when we got off, the line was still short, so we rode again! After Millennium, we headed over to Skyhawk, since Dragster wasn't open yet. Once again, this was an amazing ride, and we rode it twice! After that, we headed back down the Frontier Trail, and got on Iron Dragon. It's not one of my favorites, but we had a younger person with us, and we wanted to check the line for Dragster. For some reason, none of us could keep track of time that day, so we wanted to make sure that Dragster was open before we headed over. The ride was actually better than normal, and it was very fun.

We saw that Dragster was just about to open up, so we headed on over. We got on in 25 minutes, which I was very happy about. Dragster is my favorite ride in the park, because it's just so extreme. When we got off, we got back in line, and only waited 15 minutes! What a great day! After Dragster, we headed on over to Power Tower. I absolutely love this ride as well, and we rode it four times. The green is very intense!

So, by the time we got off Power Tower, it was lunch time. So, back to Chick-Fil-A! I really wish there were more of these up north! There's just something about their chicken sandwiches that makes them so delicious! And of course, when our bellies were full, we headed on over to Maverick. The line was a decent 1-and-a-half hours, but we all really wanted to ride! This roller coaster is amazing as well, and I love riding it! Ever since opening day in 2007, it's had a place in my heart.

Next, we walked back to the Main Entrance to meet someone, then we walked to Magnum. It was very bumpy, and some people I was with had really bad headaches when we got off. I was fine, but although I do love that ride, it has gotten a little rough over the years. After Magnum, we hit something a little smoother, Wicked Twister. I love this ride. I've only been riding it since August, but it is one of my favorites. It was an awesome ride. Next, we hit Chaos, since it was right there. For a small ride, it's very fun and enjoyable.

Time was flying by, so we needed one more ride before dinner. So, we went to Millennium again. It was about a half hour wait, but all well worth it. An excellent coaster, and by the time we got off, it was dinner time!

So, there we were in Tomo Hibachi about an hour later. I love this place! It was my third time going, and the food was excellent, and very entertaining! I really like the fried ride! If you ever get the chance, this would be an excellent place to go eat. After dinner, it was Halloween time for me! But, nobody else with me liked the HalloWeekends stuff, so I was all alone! So, I would meet everyone once the park closed, and I would go have fun in the park until then! But, it was only 7:30, so first I grabbed a quick ride on Wicked Twister to take up some time.

So, first on my list was Fear Faire, since I was at the front of the park already. I've heard a lot of bad reviews about this area, but honestly I've enjoyed it a lot ever since 2006 when it opened. There were some areas that the fog was blowing away, but most of the way through it was extremely foggy (and on an embarrassing note, I got lost in the middle and couldn't find my way out, and a few people were laughing at me). It can be very confusing if you go the wrong way sometimes!

Next, I headed back to CarnEVIL. I really love this walk-through, even though I did like it more when it was by Wicked Twister. It was very fun, and scary at the same time, and that darn monkey gets me every time! I actually find the people inside very interesting, and the skeleton scenes are quite funny (and sometimes disturbing)! I especially liked "Scull Ball", and the one with the people throwing knives at the dolls! Very cool!

Next was my personal favorite HalloWeekends attraction, Undertaker U.! The U.R. Dade School of Mortuary Science was simply amazing that day, and I was very impressed. The rooms were very hazy, the acting and scaring were really good, and it was really cool, because they were playing this really interesting rock music in the background, which really set the mood. I love the spinning tunnel and the strobe lights on that one ramp, because the people always get me there!

After Undertaker U., I walked through Fright Zone. I wasn't really too enthusiastic when I got in, because I noticed that there wasn't much going on. There weren't many people inside, and the fog was blowing away. But, I looked at the scenery off at the sides, and listened to the music, since the Fright Zone has the best music in my opinion! After I made it through, I walked back again, seeing it another time.

I decided to skip CornStalkers, because I had already been through it, and the line was very long, so I went back through Undertaker U.! That house just never seems to get old to me! In fact, I went through it nine times this year alone! Yes, I know, I seem like a freak... Anyway, next, I went back through CarnEvil. Very enjoyable, but afterwards, I went onto Terror Island. I had been through this many times already, but I thought it was very fun. And I love how long it is! The only wish I have is that they would put more stuff at the end. It was pretty much empty after 3/4 of the way through. But, over all, it's a very good attraction!

The park was about to close, and I was pretty worn out, so I headed up to the Main Entrance to leave. I decided to skip Club Blood and Pharaoh's Secret, since I was going to go through Club Blood again tomorrow, and I didn't like Pharaoh's Secret anyway. But, I did take one last trip through Fear Faire, which was even better than last time, and then I left the park. I had a very good day!

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2008:

Today was a sad day, because it was the last day of 2008. It would be my last chance to ride my favorite rides until next year! But luckily, I had a great day.

Today I was with a new rider for many rides. We first headed for Raptor. The new rider person was really afraid, but loved it in the end. After all, Raptor is an excellent coaster. It's as smooth as glass, and has a superior layout. After that, we headed for Millennium. This time we had a different person that had never been on it. They were in for a treat. And, they loved it. And, so did everyone else! It's a great ride.

Now, as I've already said, there was someone who didn't ride Raptor, and someone who didn't ride Millennium. Well, neither of them had been on either Maverick or Dragster, so I was determined to get them on. Maverick was pretty easy, we just walked over, and rode. Everyone loved it. But Dragster... Well, we were sitting on a bench discussing it for around 15 minutes...

"Don't worry, it won't hurt you..."

"Umm... (15 seconds later) Well I don't know if I'll like it or not!"

Well, after our talk, both of them went with me to ride it. They were both shaking and wouldn't talk before we got on, but by the time the ride was over, they were ready to ride again! But, we decided to do something else first. Ride Power Tower. Neither of them had been on that before either, and I told them it's a "must ride". I rode with one of them on green, and someone else rode with the other person on red. It was very scary, but I think at least one person liked it! After that, we headed back to Dragster. Ahhh, what a great ride. And it was only a 15 minute wait! After that, they went to go ride Blue Streak, while I went through Undertaker U. Wow, I really like that haunted house!

After that, we had to go. But, I was forgetting one more thing! Club Blood! I had only been on it once that year, so I had to go again! Everyone else waited outside, while I went through. It was very fun. And it was my last thing to do at Cedar Point for 2008! I was so depressed! As I walked out of the park, I tried to capture everything as well as I could... It seemed like the year went so fast! But, then I had to go home. Home for another winter.

This was just one of my many trips to Cedar Point in 2008, and I probably won't be posting any trip reports from before September, but I may have more HalloWeekends reports, since I went up three times in 2008!

Anyway, I am very excited for 2009, and also very excited for HalloWeekends 13! Don't worry, Undertaker U., I'll be back next year!

Cedar Point Fact of the Day

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with features, but I'm catching up this week. Here's another fact of the day!

Did you know that the oldest roller coaster that is still operating at Cedar Point is the Blue Streak? Located in the front of the park near Raptor, the Blue Streak is a nice classic coaster that is great for families as well! The Blue Streak was built in 1964, so 2009 will be its 45th season! Although the Blue Streak only stands a little over 70 feet tall, when it first opened, it was a monster. And even today, the Blue Streak continues to give riders massive amounts of airtime, and a seemingly out-of-control ride experience. So, even though the Blue Streak may be the oldest roller coaster in the park, and it may not be tall or fast, it is still a very nice ride experience!

Wicked Twister

Well, I know there have been many questions and rumors spreading about Wicked Twister. Many of us have heard the recent news that the back tower was being dismantled. While there has been no official announcement, it seems as if this is likely routine maintenance. Some other popular theories were that the ride was being torn down or that they were repainting it section by section on the ground. Based on what I know, the reason for this is because of the fact that both sides of the ride twist. There must be a lot of stress on the track on the reverse tower if it twists, because it has always seemed to cause problems. Also, that is probably why impulse coasters only have one twisted tower (that I know of). There may have been cracks in the track, or the track may have been weak, but for some reason they are definitely repairing or replacing that track section. Just don't worry, because I'm sure the ride won't be going anywhere!

Another Quick Widget Update...

Well, after a rough takeoff with the server, I finally managed to get the widget download to work. For a little while, if you clicked on the link, it would give you a message stating that you weren't allowed to download it (???), but I got it all cleared up. If you click on the link, it takes you to a webpage that is basically an exact copy of the blog post. And also, very observant people may notice that I'm using a server called "Amusement Park Madness". Don't get too excited... the reason why I did this was because I didn't want to post it on the website that I'm developing and let you guys get a sneak peak before it opens! So, to keep everything secure, you will be using a temporary server. But, don't worry, because I own and manage it, so it's secure. Here's the story.

I stumbled across a blog called "Amusement Park Madness" a few months ago when it was new. In fact, I'm a follower, just under a different username. Anyway, later on I was asked by the administrator to create some type of way to get his information onto the desktops of his readers. Well, since I'm a Mac guy, I told him I would develop a widget for him. Unfortunately, he can't use it, because he's a PC guy, but I tested it and made it work, and eventually released it to the public. But, I wanted it to be listed in Apple's list of Dashboard Widgets, and to do that, the widget had to have a webpage. So, I created one, which is where I'm secretly storing our widget, since I can't put it on our website since it's still under development.

So, now anyone that was confused is up-to-date on what's been going on with that weird website I've been using. And also, don't worry, I'm not cheating on Cedar Central either! I occasionally post things on Amusement Park Madness and update the widget, because they're a "friend blog". Don't worry, you guys get the eye candy on the widget!

Installation Instructions:

#3) Drag it around and place it wherever you like. If you are connected to the internet, it will update all of the posts automatically. If the widget is updating, you should see a "Loading..." text field at the bottom.

A Quick Widget Update

But, if you recall one of my previous posts, I said that I would not release it to the public until it was on Apple's website. Well, I've decided that I will put up a direct download link today, and I will later update it to show the Apple link after it's been reviewed. Cedar Point: A Week in Review

Well, it's the end of our first real week giving you news and information about the greatest amusement park on Earth, so here's a week in review.

No new news regarding 2009 has been released by the park. According to a member of ACE, someone who works for the park stated that magnum will be getting a new sign and new decals on the trains, there will be new LED signs on the causeway, and a new interactive fountain will replace the "afro fountain" on the main midway. Although, in a post on Cedar Point's official blog, the park was hinting at improvements on the main midway (the fountain), near Magnum (the sign), and on the Frontier Trail, but it is still unknown what will be added to the trail.

Also, according to the official Cedar Point blog, it was announced that the park began preparations for the 2009 season by setting up rides. It appears in this blog post that Millennium's trains are ready, Maverick"s trains are ready, some thrill rides are being unwrapped, and some kiddie rides are awaiting assembly. Yay, 2009!

New Stuff!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I've been really busy with the blog, website and widget. As you can see, I have added more "stuff" around the blog to give it a little more meat. I will continue adding things on to make sure everything stays fresh. Also, you may have noticed that I finally got a banner up at the top of the page. Blog Downtime

From Thursday, March 26, 2009 through Sunday, March 29, 2009, there will be some downtime with the blog. This also includes development of the website, forums, and widget. But, I'll update any Cedar Point news that I missed out on as soon as I'm back on Monday, so stay tuned!

I'm on my way down to Cedar Point's sister park, Carowinds, so I'll see their new ride, Carolina Cobra, and be staying for opening day was well that Saturday. I'll be heading back late Sunday night, so I probably won't post anything until Monday. A Cedar Central Update

Now, I'd like for it to be known that we didn't just have a blog planned at Cedar Central. You already know about the widget, now get ready for a lot more. Soon, we will be opening an all new website and forums. These will both add to your Cedar Central experience and help you find information and enjoy the benefits of our network to the fullest. While these have begun the development stage, we will be fully working on these projects after the blog is finished. Cedar Point 2009

We all know that there won't be any new rides for 2009 at the Point, but still nothing has been released from the park about anything new this year. But alas, some information has been leaked from a fellow blogger from Cedar Point's official website. The blog gave a hint as to what's coming (link), but later on more information was revealed at the ACE Winter SOAR Event at King's Island. If you go to the article, there is a picture of the area around Magnum, the Main Midway, and the Frontier Trail. According to a member of ACE, these photos are teasers for a new fountain and a new sign on Magnum, but what is being done in the Frontier Trail remains unknown.

Yes, in 1956, George Roose and Emile Legros bought the park to turn it into a different type of resort... yikes! Do you remember... Avalanche Run?

Avalanche Run was a toboggan roller coaster where guests sat in cars that could swerve freely inside the hemisphere shaped track. Well actually, it's still at the park! Any Cedar Point history buff would probably know that Avalanche Run is actually Disaster Transport! No way?! Well it's true! But, we're referring to the ride before 1990, before it was enclosed in the modern building that we know of today. So here are the stats:

I will clearly mark these posts, but I just want to make sure that everyone knows. I feel that recent news should be posted to inform readers that may not be aware of these recent events, and also for future reference.

Cedar Central Widget Coming!

Get ready Mac users! Soon, an official Cedar Central Dashboard widget will be released to the public. This widget will keep you up-to-date on your Cedar Point news by delivering you all of our information in a compact yet full-featured Dashboard widget, so you never have to open your web browsers! The project is in the development stage, but should be completed in the next few days, which will then lead to getting the widget approved and hosted, and then will be on your computers! So it will be a few weeks before you can try it out yourselves, but I will keep you updated on what's going on until then.

Also, sorry PC's, a Vista version will not be developed until after the Dashboard widget is complete.
